Early Access Releases

Mermaid Studio offers an Early Access Program (EAP) release channel that lets you try unreleased bug fixes, new features, and experimental capabilities before they reach the stable channel. It’s the best way to stay on the cutting edge and help shape the direction of Mermaid Studio with your feedback.

Things to Keep in Mind

  • May lack documentation: Some features in EAP builds are still in development and may not yet be documented.
  • Less thoroughly tested: These builds go through less testing than stable releases and may contain bugs or rough edges.
  • Not always newer: The EAP and stable channels follow independent release schedules. For example, a bug fix might ship in stable before it appears in the next EAP build.
  • Telemetry enabled by default: EAP builds have data sharing enabled by default to help identify issues before stable releases. You can opt out at any time in Settings > Tools > Mermaid Studio > Data Sharing.

Enabling the EAP Channel

  1. Open your JetBrains IDE

  2. Open Settings ( Command + Comma Control + Alt + S )

  3. Navigate to Plugins > ⚙️ (gear icon) > Manage Plugin Repositories…

  4. Click + and add the following URL:

    https://plugins.jetbrains.com/plugins/eap/29870

  5. Click OK to save

  6. In the Marketplace tab, search for Mermaid Studio. EAP versions will now appear when available.

  7. Install or update to the EAP version

  8. Restart your IDE when prompted

Switching Back to Stable

To return to the stable release channel, remove the EAP repository URL and update the plugin:

  1. Open Settings ( Command + Comma Control + Alt + S ) and navigate to Plugins > ⚙️ (gear icon) > Manage Plugin Repositories…

  2. Select the EAP repository URL and click − to remove it

  3. Click OK to save

  4. Go to the Installed tab, find Mermaid Studio, and click Update to revert to the latest stable version. If no update is available, uninstall the plugin and reinstall it from the Marketplace tab.

  5. Restart your IDE when prompted

If you encounter a bug or unexpected behavior in an EAP build, please report it. Your feedback helps improve the stable release.
